A women that lived by the verse: “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me”, Philippians 4:13.

She passed away peaceful on July 30th. Her life did not start as peaceful as she passed: born on January 1, 1935, 2 months premature without certain muscles finished forming in her legs and other parts of her body. She and through the power of her family and God fought against her handicaps, including having Polio at an early age. The Doctors said she would never walk. Not only did she learn to walk (which the Mayo clinic still doesn’t understand how) She got her music degree, sang as a soloist in Chicago and taught music. She met the love of her life at Sioux Falls College who died 7 years ago: Leonard V. Kowalski. So at this moment of sorrow we also rejoice as she has joined him in heaven, where she is now happy. She was an extraordinary woman with kindness and grace. She overcame, breast cancer, broken bones, CHF, diabetes and so many other things and was unable to walk for over the last 15 years confined to an electric wheelchair, but still lived alone after the death of her dear Leonard and always believed the she could do all things possible through Christ.

She will be sorely missed by her only daughter: Jane Kowalski. Jean was a fantastic educator, working in and teaching music and later 1st Grade in the Tempe School District. She was a woman with courage, determination, hope and love. I hope we can pass on some of her courage to others as she remains in our hearts forever.

Visitation: Friday, August 5th from 6 to 8pm at: Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel, 7900 East Main St. Mesa, Arizona 85207 (Tel) 480-832-2850. Funeral Service at 11am at First Presbyterian Church, 161 N. Mesa Dr. Mesa, Arizona. Visitation at the church is from 10 to 11 am. Interment following the service at Mountain View Cemetery “Face your deficiencies and acknowledge them; but do not let them master you. Let them teach you patience, sweetness, insight? When we do the best we can, we never know what miracle is wrought in our life, or in the life of another. (Helen Keller)
