Mrs. L. F. Young, RN (nee Hall) passed away at her home in Mesa, AZ on February 4, 2012 at age 86. She was born in Salt Lick, KY on March 30, 1925 to Henry S. and Virginia M. Hall. L.F. was preceded in death by her parents and sisters Genevieve Maslac, Betty Sue Ford, and brother Francis Hall. L.F. became a registered nurse at Louisville General Hospital School of Nursing in 1948. She served in the US Air Force from Oct. 1952 during the Korean War as a 1ST Lieutenant Nurse. She was honorably discharged in Oct 1954 at Elmendorf AFB, Anchorage, AK. She served in the Air Force Reserve until July 1963, and was discharged as a Captain completing her Reserve commitment to the Air Force. While stationed in Alaska, she met her husband, Lt. John A. Young, a fighter pilot in the 66th F.I.S. L.F. and John (Jack) were married for 57 years and raised one daughter, Janet L. Young of Pueblo West, CO and grandson Joshua J. Whitley of Pueblo, CO. They spent 20 years in the Air Force with many different assignments. He retired from Holloman AFB, NM in Aug of 1971. They moved to Pueblo West, CO where they lived until 1996. They then moved to Mesa, AZ to be near her sister and brother-in-law, Betty Sue and Clifton Ray Ford. L.F. was the heart and soul of the home and will be missed by her family and friends. The funeral will be conducted at 11:00 am Wednesday Feb. 15, 2012 at the National Cemetery of AZ, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd., Phoenix. Arrangements by Mountain View Funeral Home (480-832-2850).
