Lois Jean Ruksnaitis, 87, born in Jackson County, MO on September 25, 1922, died January 6, 2010. She previously was widowed when her first husband, Dean H. Butts was fatally injured in a traffic accident in 1958. She married F. John Ruksnaitis in Alhambra, CA May 23, 1964. She worked as a Titled Secretary at Lincoln Savings &Loan in Granada Hills, CA and resigned from there in 1970. She moved to Apache Wells Country Club, Mesa, AZ in Sept. 1975 after her husband retired from the Los Angeles Police Department. They also enjoyed a summer home in Show Low, AZ from 1976-2006. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Pasadena Chapter #108 in San Marino, CA, Daughters of the Nile Qadesh Temple #35 Phoenix, AZ, Ladies of the Oriental Shrine, Phoenix, Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters of the Confederacy, MO, Phoenix Art Museum Contributor, Ladies Fellowship Group Apache Wells Community Church, Red Hat Society “Foxy Ladies”. She had been an avid golfer at Apache Wells C.C. and Show Low C.C. and had served as President of the 18th Hole Ladies Golf Club at both. Lately she was a volunteer librarian at Apache Wells. She was preceded in death by her parents Bethel and Eva Dodd Alumbaugh, brother Frank Alumbaugh Sr., sisters Joy Smith and Margret Winkle, Garnett Farrar, nephew Robert E. Winkle and 1st husband Dean H. Butts. Survivors include her husband F. John Ruksnaitis of Mesa, AZ, nieces Wanda Philpot of Warsaw, MO, Judithann Witte, Independence, MO, nephews Frank Alumbaugh of Lexington, KY and Higginsville, MO, David Farrar of Springfield, Ohio, Donald Farrar of Dallas, TX, Robert Copeland of Orange Park, FL and William Smith of Jacksonville, FL. There will be a viewing between 5 – 8:00pm Wednesday January 13, 2010 at Mountain View Funeral Home, 7900 E. Main St., Mesa, AZ. The funeral service will be at 11:00 am Thursday January 14, 2010 at Apache Wells Community Church, 2115 N Gayridge Rd., Mesa, AZ 85215. Also another service will be at Hoefer Funeral Home , Higginsville, MO and interment will be in Odessa, MO cemetery, date to be announced.
