Carmen Corral Contreras, age 101, died surrounded by her family Monday, June 6, 2011, in Mesa, Arizona. She was preceded in death by her husband Salvador, their son Salvadorcito, and their daughter Eva Rivera. Carmen is survived by 8 children Isabel Roman (Gilbert), (Pete Rivera), Lupe Lira (John), Bertha Candelaria (Tom), George (Margie), Ronnie (Mabel), Art (Gloria), Rey (Susan), and Eddie (Helen) Contreras. Carmen had 24 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 17 great great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Carmen was born on April 21, 1910, in Querobabi, Mexico. She immigrated to the U.S. in 1915 during the Mexican Revolution. Carmen became a naturalized citizen in 1965. Carmen was a woman of tremendous character, spiritual strength, and strong family values. Her wisdom was uttered in both English and beautiful Spanish, her storytelling ability, dichos, proverbs, and prayers will be remembered. All services will be held Monday, June 13, 2011, beginning at 9:30 A.M. at Queen Of Peace Catholic Church at 141 N. MacDonald, Mesa, AZ 85201. Viewing will be held from 9:30 – 11:00, rosary from 11:00 -11:30 followed by a funeral mass. Interment will take place at Mountain View Cemetery at 7900 E. Main Street, Mesa, AZ 85207. Donations may be made to Hospice Inspiris, 2025 N 3rd St, Phoenix, AZ 85004 in her name.
