Robert “Bob” Cook DeGeer, 86, of Mesa, AZ passed away November 10, 2011 in Mesa, AZ. Mr. DeGeer, an insurance executive, was born to parents who homesteaded just east of Colorado Springs. He grew up in Colorado and graduated from the University of Denver with a degree in Business Administration with a major in Accounting. He joined the Navy in 1943, assigned to the amphibious Corp and spent 3 years in the South Pacific. After training for beach landings in New Guinea, he went to The Philippines and made 2 invasions. He was discharged in 1946 and returned home to Pueblo, CO and met his first wife Marjorie and married in 1947. Marjorie and Bob were blessed with 4 children. He worked for State Farm Insurance as an agent, and then became an Agency Director. He retired in 1986 in Albuquerque, NM and moved back to Colorado, where he became interested in Tennessee Walking horses. He showed horses in a two state area. Marjorie left this world in 1997 and Bob then began sharing his life with a wonderful woman, Beverly Butler. Beverly left his life in 2002, and he then began sharing his life with another wonderful woman, Josephine Smith. Bob is survived by his companion Josephine “Jo” Smith, his daughter Cheri Stichka, sons Robert John, Ronald Everett, and Michael Lee, 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2:00 pm Saturday November 12, 2011 at Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel, 7900 E. Main St., Mesa, AZ (480-832-2850).
