Reva Pearl Hawkins, age 92 years young, entered into eternal rest on February 27, 2012, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Phoenix. She was born July 16, 1919, to Clyde and Lillian (Tracy) Brengle in Guthrie, Oklahoma.  Her father was a Baptist minister, and the family moved as his job locations changed. Her childhood years with seven siblings were spent in Oklahoma, Bisbee, Phoenix, Globe and Miami, Arizona. While her father was minister of the small Baptist Church in Claypool, she and her family lived in a small parsonage there, as well as for a short time at a small parsonage in Globe close to the Post Office. The family later returned to Oklahoma where she graduated from high school before moving back to Miami, Arizona.  Reva met Joseph Bertram Hawkins in Miami, and they married on February 3, 1939. The couple moved into their home in Globe, Arizona, where Reva resided for the last 73 years. They had two sons and celebrated 56 years of marriage before Bert passed away in 1995.  Although Reva worked as a store clerk and manager for Globe Food Center, she was primarily a homemaker. She was an excellent seamstress, cook, baker, and gardener and her beloved family came first in her life.  In her later years she enjoyed playing board and card games with family and friends and was a strong competitor who good-naturedly played to win. She also enjoyed jigsaw and crossword puzzles and playing the organ. Traveling both in and out-of-state to visit siblings and grandchildren brought her great pleasure as well.  As a supporter of the Globe-Miami Community Concert Association she took joy in attending concerts they sponsored. She was a member of Divine Grace Presbyterian Church in Miami and fulfilled her lifelong love of music by serving as organist. When she was in her eighties she performed a concert there….something she and her family were very proud of.  Her gentle spirit, open mind, sense of humor, acceptance of all people, and love of life kept her forever young. Those who knew her could tell her genuine concern for them and appreciated her kindness, thoughtfulness, and pleasant personality. She had a ready smile, put others first, was a friend to all, and will be greatly missed by her family and friends who dearly loved her.  She is survived by 2 sons: Donald (Beverly) Hawkins and Gene (Mary) Hawkins of Globe, AZ; 6 grandchildren: Terry (Susie) Hawkins of Grandview, TX; David (Tammye) Hawkins of Sumner, TX; Ted (Barb) Hawkins of Maricopa, AZ; Becky Hawkins of Mesa, AZ; Kristin (Dan) Lowe of Show Low, AZ; and Russell Hawkins of Globe, AZ; 13 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.  She is also survived by three brothers: Al Brengle of Greensboro, GA, John William Brengle of Mesa, AZ, and Charles Brengle of the Seattle, WA area; and one sister, Violet Marshall of Tucson, AZ.  She was preceded in death by her husband: Joseph Bertram Hawkins; two brothers: Vernon “Budge” Brengle and Glen Brengle; one sister: Margaret Florence; and one grandson: Bryan Hawkins.  At Mrs. Hawkins’ request, no services are planned. Mountain View Funeral Home of Mesa, AZ assisted the family.
