Henry M. Woike (Hank) was born in Blue Island, Illinois January 4, 1921. He went home March 10, 2012. He started out as a painter/decorator working with his dad and one of his brothers. He was in the Army Air Corps during World War II, mostly as a navigator “flying the hump” between India and China. When the war ended he came back to Blue Island and married Elsie (Wilson). He was a plastic mold designer and builder for the rest of his working days, but always found time to do carpentry and cabinet building. He designed and build two homes for his family, one in Blue Island and the present home in Apache Junction. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Elsie and three of their four children, Janet Kruse (George), Phyllis Schultz (John) and James. Their youngest son, Martin, preceded him home in 1981. He has 4 grandsons, J. Fred Schultz, Douglas Schultz (Susan), Matthew Schultz (Ginger) and Timothy Kruse. He has four great-grandchildren. His parents were Herman and Mary Woike and he was one of 11 children: Ruth Prafke, deceased; Arthur, deceased; Elmer, deceased; Alice, deceased; Ervin, deceased; Herman, deceased; Esther Luenser of Blue Island, IL; Lois Haase of Palos Heights, IL; William, deceased; and Gladys Decker, deceased. There will be a visitation Wednesday March 14, 2012 at Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel, 7900 E. Main St., Mesa, AZ from 4:00 – 7:00 pm. The funeral service will be at 10:00 am Thursday March 15, 2012 at Our Savoir’s Lutheran Church, 612 S. Ellsworth Rd., Mesa, AZ 85208.
