Warren Hickman Obituary
Warren Hickman died Thursday February 4, 2016 at home in Gold Canyon, AZ. He had been ill with Pulmonary Fibrosis for several years. Warren was a cherished father, grandfather, great-grandfather and a friend to many. He was a strong man who never complained about being so ill with very limited activity level. This took courage and strength.
Warren was born on April 4, 1939 in Warren, MN. He grew up on a farm in northwestern Minnesota attending Markwell East country school initially and graduating from Warren High School in 1957. He served in the United States Air Force for four years. December 29,1964 he was united in marriage to Marion Miska at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Tabor, MN
He was employed in Warren, MN with the last job being in sales for International Harvester Co. He, Marion and children Russ and Rachel moved to Mesa, Arizona in 1984 where he purchased “Bike Chalet”. While being the owner and co-owner with son Russ, he also became an avid bicycle rider. Including cycling in numerous 100 mile bike events in Arizona and California. In 1994 he and another MN man pedaled from Fountain Hills, AZ to Warren, MN – 1800 miles in 18 days. After retiring from Bike Chalet he worked part time as a driver for La Mesa a large RV dealership in Mesa.
He loved antique cars and doing anything outside including fishing, canoeing, hiking, and picnics. Traveling worldwide was a great priority for Warren and Marion.
He is survived by his wife Marion, son Russ and wife Beth Hickman Tempe, AZ, daughter Rachel Shaw Aurora, CO, three grandchildren Cole wife Kelsie Gilbert, AZ, Kyle wife Heidi from Peoria Il, and Casey Hickman Scottsdale, AZ and five great grandchildren including two sets of twins the past year. Also surviving are Brother Roger Hickman wife Connie from Inver Grove Heights, MN and sister Karen Larson from Warren, MN, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and an aunt. He is preceded in death by his parents Walter and Helen Hickman.
