Marjorie L. Flitsch, 90, a resident of Hiawatha, Iowa and Apache Junction, Arizona died in Apache Junction on Thursday, January 10, 2013 of natural causes. Memorial services are pending for Marion, Iowa. Honoring her wish she will be cremated, then buried in Lafayette cemetery-Linn county Iowa. Marjorie Louise McGowan was born December 22, 1922 in rural Cedar Rapids, Iowa, a daughter of Louis and Leona (Roman) McGowan. She was united in marriage to Merrill J. Flitsch in 1942 in Alburnett, Iowa. Marjorie enjoyed traveling, cooking, bowling, card playing and having fun. She so enjoyed life and her family and friends. She attended Rosedale school and McKinley High School. She belonged to Walker United Methodist Church and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She retired from Rockwell Collins as an executive secretary. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Marc and Rima, Florence Arizona; her granddaughter, Anna Adams (Todd Hansel), Dubuque, Iowa; her two great-grandchildren, Austin Bird, Davenport, Iowa and Jaci Jo Adams, Dubuque, Iowa; a brother, Harold L. McGowan, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Leila Sloan, Alburnett, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Merrill; a sister, Mildred McGowan; a daughter-in-law, Mary Jo (Hockaday) Flitsch; a brother-in-law, Lee Sloan; and a sister-in-law, Helen (Coleman) McGowan. We wish to thank her wonderful neighbors and friends, both in Apache Junction and Hiawatha, for their loving and caring help.
