Esther Louise Overgaard, age 100, of Apache Junction, AZ, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday July 26, 2013. She was born on June 15, 1913, and was the only one of nine children in the Overgaard family to have never been married. She loved all her family greatly and was a treasured sister and aunt to her siblings, nephews and nieces. Esther retired from service as an elementary school teacher in Compton, CA and previously taught school in Mott, ND, where the family homesteaded a ranch. Six of her siblings predeceased her: Siguard Overgaard, Jenny Swanston, Elizabeth Eckleberg, Edna Schrimpf, Elsie Jacobson-Ryan, and Walter Overgaard. Her two surviving siblings are Eleanor Reineke of Oregon, and Alvina Swindler of Apache Junction, AZ. Esther’s example for long life included finding joy and peace in God, loving others, having a continuous smile and an unselfish concern for her fellow man. Services will be at 1:00 pm Saturday, August 3, 2013 at Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel, 7900 E. Main St., Mesa, AZ.
