Susan (Sue) North, 80, left this world to begin a new life with her Lord and Savior on September 29, 2013. Sue was a native of Alabama and daughter of Eschol S. Darden and Wilma Herndon Cobb Darden. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years, Dr. James E. North, Sr., God’s servant, pastor and builder.

Sue graduated from Ensley High School where she enjoyed being involved as a head cheerleader and honorary ROTC officer. She married Jim and moved to Georgia where they began their life together. Sue later obtained her Associates of Religious Education degree from the Wheeler Business College at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth Texas. Sue dedicated her life to the support of her husband and their ministry together. She served the Lord throughout her life in teaching women’s ministries, raising a family of 5 children, and serving others. A woman full of life and love for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and always happy for an opportunity to share his love with those she met. During her latter years, she was actively involved in the Daughters of the American Revolution and member of Brown Road Baptist Church.

Sue will be dearly missed by her family and friends and remembered as a beautiful and loving person inside and out. She is survived by: 3 daughters, Linda Richards (Mike) – FL, Debbie Wigand – AZ, Julie Luman – TX; 2 sons, Jim North (Sundee) – CA, David North (Lori) – WY; brothers Sam Darden – GA, Bill Darden (Vicki) – AL; sister Jane Coleman – AL; 13 grandchildren – Jeremi (Chandler), Kenny (Angie), Jenniffier, Stevan, Thad, Scott, Dustin, Carissa, Abbie, Zach, Jared, Bailey, Morgan; and 3 great grandchildren – Jake, Aidan, and Greyson.

A celebration of her life will be held on October 5, at 2:00, at Fellowship Square, 6945 W. Main Street, Mesa, 85207. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to Samaritan’s Purse, PO Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607 and/or Fellowship Square, Memorial Fund – Mesa, AZ.
