Darleen G. Hastings passed away March 15, 2014 at the age of 85. She was born May 30, 1928 to Abraham Isaac and Helen Geiman in Hoisington, Kansas. She graduated from Colorado Women’s College in 1948. She taught school in Crawford, Colorado for one year before returning to finish her art degree at Kansas University in 1951. Darleen married James Fredrick Hastings in June 1951. After the wedding, she worked as a designer for Hallmark Cards with her art degree. She loved working with paints and pastel chalk. She is survived by her husband Jim of 62 years and 5 of her 6 children Susan and husband Kernit, Nancy and husband David, Elizabeth and husband William, James and wife Susan, Barbara and husband Donald, 17 Grandchildren and 16 Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Joyce and her favorite daughter Sally Ann Hastings Johnson Latsch. Our family would like to thank Hospice of the Valley for all of their loving and kind support. We could not have made it without them. A funeral was held at 10:00 am Thursday, March 20th at Mountain View Funeral Home 7900 E. Main St. Mesa AZ 85207 In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Hospice of the Valley in Darleen’s honor as we greatly loved Sheri Pape and Jenny Frazier.
