Ione Olson passed away on the morning of Dec. 13, 2014 of natural causes while being comforted by family and loving care givers at Red Mountain Senior Home in Mesa, Arizona.

Ione Olson was born on the home farm in Montevideo, Minnesota on July 7th 1913, the first of five children to Robert and Lydia Seiler. She graduated from Moorhead Teachers college and began her career dedicated to education and children in the one room school houses of Minnesota. Ione loved teaching throughout her life and became the Director of Christian Education at House of Prayer Lutheran Church in Richfield, Minnesota, retiring from formal education in 1973.

Ione Olson continued to be a vital part of her church and community after moving to Arizona. She loved all types of crafts and delighted in making gifts for friends and family, she was an accomplished hostess and her baking skills were legendary. Ione’s devotion to her Lord and her family never ceased and she was always a gracious lady.

Ione Helen Olson was preceded in death by her loving husband, Paul B. Olson; her parents, Robert and Lydia Seiler; brothers, Kenneth Seiler and Glen Seiler; sister, June Luschen; and son Kevin Olson.

Ione Helen Olson is survived by her brother, Alton Seiler (Margaret Seiler); son, Jean Paul Jasperse (Rose Jasperse); daughter, Linnae Wolkoff (Peter Wolkoff); grandchildren, Tiara Fatova (Anatoliy Fatov), Marcus Olson and Justin Jasperse; and her adoring great grandchildren, Mercaedez, Isis, Anyssa, Pya and Kimoni.

A special Thank you to Hospice of the Valley and our church family at Red Mountain UMC for their support and comfort. Memorials and donations may be given to Red Mountain United Methodist Church or Hospice of the Valley.
