Born March 26, 1923 – Passed January 3, 2018

Iona F Shreffler lived a very full life alongside her husband of 74 years, Ralph Shreffler. During her life, Iona went to Lovington High School graduating in 1941 and was active in tennis, table tennis and softball. She was the daughter of Amos and Gladys Hout. Her ability to speak in front of people found her as the worthy matron in Eastern Stars at Wilmington, Illinois. She worked in banking, the federal government, and at the end of her career as the supervisor for real estate auditors at the Corps of Engineers in Omaha, Nebraska. After retiring, she traveled to a variety of different countries, participated in the highest level of square dancing, played a mean hand of bridge, and enjoyed spending time with family – especially her nieces and nephews – and friends. Iona is survived by Ralph Shreffler, husband; Gloria Churchill, daughter; and Trevor Schuler, grandson. We are asking that flowers not be sent as Mom was always allergic to them. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Shriners Hospital for Children where all of the money goes directly to a child in need. The link to donate is: https://donate.lovetotherescue.org/give/158250/…Please add a comment that the donation is in memory of Iona F. Shreffler.

  1. Pam & Joe Crugnale says:

May the wonderful memories you’ve shared help to ease your grief.

  2. Helen says:

I know your mom will be missed in so many ways, Gloria. I never met her, but if she was like you, I know I would have loved her, too.

  3. Melody Lepley says:

What a fun and full life your mom had. I wish I could have known her better. She sure raised a great daughter who I’m lucky to have as my sister-in-law. She will live on forever in your heart and your memories.
