George Eugene “Rip” Ennis, 84, passed away July 26, 2018 after a long battle with cancer, in Gilbert, AZ.
George was born in 1934 in Martinsville, Indiana. He was the son of the late Henry Edwin Ennis of Martinsville, IN and the late Ivanelle Groseclose McCarty of Illinois. George attended Martinsville High School Class of 1951, following graduation, George served with the US Navy during the Korean War.
He was an Arizona resident for 46 years and was the small business owner of Ennis Enterprises. “Rip” enjoyed exploring the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and camping with family and friends. He was a member of the VFW Post 7968 of Apache Junction.
Surviving are his wife of 34 years, Lola K. Eichinger Ennis of Arizona, children: Debra (David) Doty of Texas, Sandra Gobin of New Hampshire, Kim Colwell of Indiana, Sharon Pitchford of Arizona, Candy Hare of Colorado, Gary (Debbie) Cuthbertson of Colorado, and Dean (Wendy) Cuthbertson of Arizona. He is also survived by brothers: Bill McCarty of Idaho and Stan McCarty of Tennessee, sisters: Anna Sinnet of Indiana and Sharon Colmone of Illinois. George “Rip” had 15 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his son Robert D. Ennis of New Hampshire, brother Henry Edwin Ennis Jr. of Arizona, and sister Minnie Mabel Reynolds of Indiana.
