Sharon Buell Couwenhoven went home to be with the Lord on January 21, 2022.  Sharon was born in Harvey, Illinois on August 15, 1939.  She attended Thornton High School and graduated from Roosevelt University with her degree in early education.  Sharon married her high school sweetheart, Don Couwenhoven, on August 25, 1962.  Sharon was a stay-at-home mom and raised their 4 children, taught in the public schools for many years, especially Reading Recovery, was involved in their church, and held down the fort as her husband, Don, traveled overseas for 2 weeks at a time to train pastors in other countries.  Sharon loved the Lord above all else and that love poured over to her husband and her family.

Sharon is survived by her husband, Don and their 4 children:  Tami Reyna (Gary), Russ Couwenhoven (Ann), Jill Abbatacola (Dave), and Randy Couwenhoven (Jill) as well as 22 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, her sister, Joyce McReynolds (Jim), brother, Keith Buell (Carole), sister-in-law, Judy Horsfall, and many dearly loved nieces and nephews.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Sharon on February 5, 2022 at 2:00p.m. at Gold Canyon Community Church.  A Memorial Service will be held in late spring or early summer at Moraine Valley Church in Palos Heights, Illinois.
