Harold E. Salstrom, of Mesa, AZ formerly of Worthington MN, passed away, August 13, 2023. He was born April 4, 1932, in Worthington MN and attended school through the 8th grade, graduating into life where he began helping on the family farm near Round Lake, MN.
In October of 1950, he enlisted in the Navy. He was stationed on the U.S. Pine Island, a sea plane tender, serving in the Korean War, returning home in the fall of 1954. He returned to civilian life, becoming a construction framer, and in 1955 he met and married his wife of 68 years Donna (Slocum). Later that year he welcomed his only child, a son, Wayne Lee Salstrom.
Harold worked in construction until moving the family to Compton, CA in 1957 where he worked for Standard Oil Company. In 1958 he moved his family to Highland CA, where he began a career in Sales with Sears and Roebuck, San Bernadino, CA. He had a brief stint in sales with Condosta Equipment before moving again to Mesa AZ in August of 1968. That year he rejoined Sears and Roebuck in Scottsdale, AZ where he had a very successful 30-plus year career in Sales before retiring from Sears and Roebucks in 1994. Finding retirement not to his liking, he started a new career as a transport driver for Love of Christ Daily Adult care. He retired again, after 20 years, at the young age of 85. At 86 he traveled as a member of Honor Flight to Washington DC; a trip of a life time. He loved to play Billiards, and he was always up for a game of dominoes, Tripoley and 21.
Harold Elwood Salstrom will be missed.
He is survived by, his wife, Donna P. Salstrom, his son Wayne L. Salstrom and daughter-in-law Lillian. His two granddaughters Paige(Salstrom) Reyes married to Ralph Reyes Jr. and Haley (Salstrom) Garcia married to Freddie P. Garcia. His great-grandchildren, Kendal and Colton Reyes; and Hudson, Brooklynn and Madelynn Garcia.
Celebration of Life chapel and interment services will be held at Mountain View Funeral Home and Cemetery, 7900 E , Main St. Mesa, AZ 85207, Monday August 28, 2023. Chapel service at 10:00am with interment immediately following.
