Ted Stephens Jr.

November 26, 1936 – May 7, 2024

Ted Stephens, Jr., went to be with the Lord on May 7, 2024, at 8:50 PM. He passed away due to medical complications after a recent fall.

Ted and his wife Janet had been living in Mesa, AZ, for the last two years to be closer to family. Ted was born in Lowell, Kentucky, in 1936. Ted and Janet lived in Olympia, Washington, for about 40 years. Previously, they lived in Oregon for 38 years. Ted owned a Napa Auto Parts store in Albany, Oregon, and spent the rest of his career in industrial sales. Ted started singing bass in a Southern Gospel quartet, when he was 16 years old. The quartet sang in his church and was filmed with one camera and broadcasted on a black and white television. Later, he started his own group, called the Jordan Singers. He then formed groups called The Messengers, and Eternity. The groups sang and traveled around the Pacific Northwest.

Ted enjoyed feeding the deer on his property. Ted enjoyed watching his kids and grandkids’ sporting events and school activities. Ted enjoyed camping in his motorhome, and riding ATVs at the Oregon sand dunes He was a huge Oregon Ducks fan. He enjoyed Mopar muscle cars, and loved driving his cars to car show events. In his early years, he owned a wooden Chris Craft and Tollycraft boats and was an avid water-skier.

A short graveside memorial will be held on May 23, 2024, at 2:00 pm, at Mountain View Funeral Home and Cemetery, 7900 East Main Street, Mesa, AZ 85207.
