Willetta “Jo” Haggard, 89, of Mesa, Arizona, passed away peacefully on June 15th, 2024 surrounded by her family.

Jo was born on January 24, 1935 to Emmett Gower and Inez Gower (Sowder) in Okemah, Oklahoma. Jo and her husband Pat were married 62 years, and they went on to raise three children, Carla, Doug, and Patti. When her youngest was in high school, Jo became a dispatcher for the Tempe Fire Deparment, and worked her way up to become a Arson Investigator. Jo was incredibly proud of her career accomplishments as she was the first female to hold this positon in Tempe.

After Jo retired, she enjoyed playing cards with her friends, spending summers in Pinetop, Arizona, and building a life with her children and grandchildren.

Jo was preceded in death by her husband Pat and brother Delano. She is survived by her brother Dwight; children Carla (Wayne), Doug (Jonelle), and Patti (Mark); and grandchildren Jack, Rachel, Jackie, Kyle, and Leland.

Services for Jo will be held on Friday, June 28th, 2024 at 10:00 A.M. in the chapel at Mountain View Cemetery, 7900 East Main Street, Mesa, Arizona 85207. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of the Valley- Dobson Home, a place where Jo was cared for in her final days.
