Cora Marie “Corky” Martie, age 95, passed away November 13, 2024 in Mesa, Arizona. Cora was born October 6, 1929 to Virgil and Grace Floyd in Joliet, Illinois. She is survived by her husband Edwin “Ed” of 56 years, a daughter Jeanne (Carl) Sievert; 3 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Dorothy Blessing who just celebrated her 101st birthday in Plainfield, Illinois. Cora will always be remembered for her restaurant in New Lenox, Illinois at the corner of Rt 30 and Cedar Road: Corky’s Café. After selling the restaurant she went to work with Ed’s sister downtown Chicago at Pure Milk Association and later in her life in the bakery department at Dominick’s in Shorewood off Rt 59 and Jefferson Street.
