Mary (Marie) Kasenchak, 85, passed away on January 1, 2025, after a fall at home. Marie was born on December 7,1939 in Wilkes-Barre, PA to Joseph and Mary C. Zlakowski. She graduated from Hanover High and attended Temple University. Marie worked at Pennsylvania Gas & Water (PG&W) in Wilkes-Barre, PA., and briefly at Rothstein Real Estate in Mountain Top, PA.
In 1975, she married Clair Tormey in Sugar Notch, PA. Together, they raised Clair’s four children and relocated to Bismarck, ND. Clair and Marie spent their retirement years in Mesa, AZ where they loved to entertain and host their family and friends. Marie was beloved by many, had a deep faith. She will be remembered most for her generosity and kind spirit. Her beautifully handwritten cards and letters were received by many and continued over decades creating beautiful lifelong connections. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, games, singing, and keeping up with the lives of her family.
She is preceded in death by her husband Clair, her parents, her sister Carol, stepson Kevin Tormey, and son in law Brian Wolf.
She is survived by her brother Joseph Kasenchak (NYC), stepdaughter Kathleen Wolf (St. Louis, MO), stepson Patrick Tormey (Jolene, San Tan Valley, AZ), stepdaughter Shawn Doerr (Greg, Queen Creek, AZ). She had 5 grandchildren, Jenna Wolf (husband Brian Jagde) (Italy), Dane Wolf (Missoula, MT), Elizabeth Wolf (husband Dustin Mordica) (St. Louis, MO), Anthony Doerr (Tara,Mound, MN), Kali Drexler (Joe, Italy). She had 7 great grandchildren, Margot and Pius (Missoula, MT), Joe, Charlie & Lincoln (Italy), Waverly (Mound, MN) and Kyllion (Italy). She adored her grands and great grands. She also is survived by many dear and close cousins.
Marie will live on in the hearts and memories of those who loved her.
The family asks that memorials be directed to the Wounded Warriors Project or The American Heart Association.
A memorial service will take place in Drums, PA at a later date, details will be provided to family and friends.
