Alexa Samantha Coleman (nee Church) was born in Mesa, Arizona on May 22, 1982. One of four daughters born to Avanell Purtee Brown and Bret Church.

Alexa grew up living first in Mesa, attending Webster Elementary; moving to Versailles, Indiana and attending South Ripley Elementary; and finally to Hopkinsville, Kentucky and attending Hopkinsville Junior High School and Hopkinsville High School, before graduating from Christian County High School. Growing up Alexa loved her family, animals, crafts, all kinds of crafts, any kind of craft, make up and cosmetology, photography, the outdoors, modeling, and being around others. She carried her love of all of these throughout her life. She attended Mesa Community College and made a career with US Bank as an Operations Specialist.

On September 1, 2007, Alexa married the love of her life, Carl Richard Coleman in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Together they created a love and a life indescribable with something as simple as words.

On June 15, 2019, Alexa was welcomed into the arms of her grandpa, Robert J. Purtee; grandma, Marigrace Purtee; great-grandma, Vera Morrison; great-aunt, Milla Fay Bentley; great-uncle, Laverne Bentley; and uncle, Ed Purtee.

Alexa lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She will be dearly missed by her husband, Carl Coleman (Mesa, Arizona); her children, Cordell Douglas, Dakota Coleman, Travis Douglas, and Isley Coleman, (Mesa, Arizona); her mother, Avanell Purtee Brown (Hopkinsville, Kentucky); step-father, Frank Brown (Hopkinsville, Kentucky); father, Bret Church (Mesa, Arizona); grandpa, James Church (Mesa, Arizona); grandma, Kenna Weaver (El Paso, Texas); sisters, Alicia Fuller, Alena Monday, and Alaecia Latham, (Hopkinsville, Kentucky); aunt, Iolene Croshaw (Apache Junction, Arizona); uncle, Vaugh Croshaw (Apache Junction, Arizona); aunt, Lisa Purtee (Hopkinsville, Kentucky); cousins, Zac Church, Kym Croshaw, Shadd Croshaw (Apache Junction, Arizona), Jeremy Commons (Hopkinsville, Kentucky), and Nathan Purtee (Tennessee).

    I’m very sorry for your loss. She must have only been 2 years older than me. That is much too young to lose somebody.
