Archie S. Hawes Jr., 84 of Mesa, Arizona passed away September 17, 2022, at Chandler Regional surrounded by his loved ones. Archie touched so many lives, and gave so much to others.  He was born in Virginia and the oldest of seven siblings. In his younger years he was a postal worker, volunteer firefighter and paramedic in Chantilly, Virginia. After he retired, he became an avid tennis player and loved serving the Lord. Archie will be lovingly remembered by his companion Mary Rhyne along with a son and four daughters, Gary, Diana, Nita, Cathy and Darlene.  He is also survived by 10 precious grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. My dearest brother had a loving, caring heart. He loved his family, especially his daughters (Nita, Diana, Cathy and Darlene). We talked regularly and his first joy was his love (Mary Alice). He then talked about his girls, the grandchildren, the great-grandchildren and the ‘weather’! He loved his church and reached out to his friends and neighbors to help them – no matter if it meant trimming shrubs or moving furniture. He was always there to lend a helpful hand. Archie is my oldest brother and will always hold a special place in my heart. I love you Archie! The stories of his last minutes on earth reinforce my faith. I know the “big smile” on his face assures me he saw and was welcomed by our Lord and Savior. I will miss you dear brother.
