Arthur Edwin Higginbotham, 85, of Mesa, passed away Saturday May 4, 2019, at Montecito Post Acute Care. He was born February 24, 1934 in Kingsley, Iowa to Arthur and Thelma Higginbotham. He married Jenean Marie La Fleur on May 16, 1960, they were married for 57 years. She preceded him in death on January 26, 2018.
Arthur graduated from Kingsley High School in 1954. He was then inducted into the Army on July 18, 1956, were he served 2 years active duty and 2 years reserved. While serving in the Army he received a Marksman (Rifle) Good Conduct Medal. He also attended The Artillery and Guided Missile School.
Arthur is survived by his 5 daughters: Wanda (Ralph) Ray, Las Cruces, NM, Kathy (Steven) Beasley, Amarillo, TX, Machell (Mike) Kirkpatrick, Mesa, AZ, Tracy (Darrell) Decker, Kingman, KS and Melanie (Jon) Hart, South Fork, CO. Arthur is also survived by 1 sibling Dorothy Nitzschke of LaMars, Iowa. Arthur is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Arthur was a loving, caring husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, father-in-law and friend. He loved working with his hands, and enjoyed keeping busy. His interests included a love for woodworking, puzzles of all kinds and knitting hats for those that needed them.
Arthur will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
