Obituary June 1946 – July 2024
Augustine Mwinyele

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Augustine Mwinyele, a
devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and cherished friend. Augustine peacefully passed away and went on to meet his creator at Banner Ironwood hospital in Arizona, USA July 2024, at the age of 78, surrounded by his beloved family.

Augustine was born in Eremon-Buree the 3rd of 12 children, to Catechist Pamphilio and Agatha Zinlier. Augustine’s early years were marked by a strong sense of responsibility and care for his siblings. He carried these values throughout his life, becoming a pillar of strength and support for his family and community.

After graduating from Jirapa catholic boarding School, Augustine pursued his passion for medicine and specialized as an Anesthesiologist in Nigeria Enugu Medical College. It was during his early times as a teacher when he met the love of his live Margaret Adisa. Augustine met Margaret Adisa during one of his stops in Jirapa during his 17 miles (27.3 Km) walk from Domwine to hometown Eremon Buree close to Lawra. The soulmates later got married in 1971; during their 42 years together, they built a wonderful family and life filled with love, laughter, and mutual respect, they were indeed a power couple.

Augustine had a distinguished career as an Anesthesiologist, working for over 40 years and retired from Cape Coast Regional Hospital. He was one of the distinguished pioneers in his area of specialty for over a decade. One of his favorite stories is when he describes how he held a lantern to visualize the field of surgery due to a power outage. His dedication, leadership, selflessness, and innovative spirit were instrumental in numerous projects that advanced technology and improved lives in poor deprived areas of Ghana. Even after retirement, Augustine continued to consult, and mentor young Anesthesiologists, always eager to share his wealth of knowledge.

As a man of deep faith, Augustine was actively involved in his church, serving in various leadership roles and participating in community outreach programs. He received the Citation of Honour of Sir knight of Knights of Marshall Council 30-Wa (Catholic friendly society/ Knights of Columbus). His generosity, humility, and steadfast faith were a source of inspiration to all who knew him.

Augustine’s greatest joy was his family. He was a loving and devoted husband to Margaret for 42 years. As a father, he was endlessly supportive and proud of his children, and grandchildren, they were the light of his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them, memories that will last a lifetime.

In addition to his professional and familial roles, Augustine had a passion for dancing, humanitarian activities, community healthcare education, and mentoring and teaching. He spent many happy hours working in the community, family and friends. He spent the last five years of his remaining life here in Arizona, USA.
Augustine is survived by his beloved children, and grandchildren.

Memories of him will forever remain in our hearts. Growing up as a child in wa, his home was home for everyone. Even after he left for cape coast, he made sure to visit us every time he travelled back home. He did well to keep in touch even via WhatsApp and we usually had our friendly chats. He was a father and a mentor. Dada, you have a front seat in Heaven. You have fought a great fight. The Almighty is pleased with your soul. We will miss you dearly but we are pleased that you have peacefully joined the love of your life in heaven. Till we all meet again.
