Retired Chief Master Sergeant, Carl Ahrens Jensen, 86, passed away surrounded by his family on Monday, November 9, 2015 in Mesa, Arizona. Carl was born on August 7, 1929 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the beloved son of Hans and Faye Jensen. He graduated from Pipestone High in 1949 and enlisted in the Air Force in 1950. While stationed in Germany, Carl enjoyed participating in the Vockenhausen Sangerbund Men’s Choir. Carl married the love of his life, Joanne, in 1954. He served in the Air Force for nearly 29 years before retiring in 1979.
Carl is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joanne; three children Jo Marie Jensen, James (Betty) Jensen and Juliene (Kevin) Osugi; five loving grandchildren, Jamie, Jennifer, Travis, Ryan and Mallory. Carl is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. He was a volunteer for Mesa Meals on Wheels, Mesa Senior Center and Banner Heart Hospital. He was a member of the El Zaribah Shriners and a choir singer and faithful member of First Presbyterian Church in Mesa. He will be greatly missed. In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
A Memorial Service and celebration of Carl’s life will be held on Friday, November 13, 2015 at 11:00 am at First Presbyterian Church, 161 N. Mesa Drive, Mesa with Pastor Frank White officiating. Military Honors will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials will be donated to First Presbyterian Church, which was a vital part of Carl’s life. Mountain View Funeral Home is assisting the family.
