Mrs. Consuelo “Chelo” Campos Magallanez returned to her heavenly home surrounded by loving family members on January 22, 2020 in Mesa, Arizona at the age of 91.
Consuelo is survived by her children, Maria Olga Sandoval (Nicholas), Jacob Magallanez, Yolanda Thompson, Julianna Eck (George), Apolinar C. Magallanez (Melissa), Melissa Vizzerra and Misty Castillo (Ralph); siblings, David Campos (Hela), Ralph Campos, Robert Campos (Alice), Ruben Campos (Josie), Miguel Campos (Maria del Pilar), Armando Campos, Albert Mercado (Nora), Ramon Campos (Mary), Grace Gonzalez, Matilde Pacheco, Velia Baca and Jane Kane (Larry); twenty grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her Husband, Apolinar D. Magallanez, her Son, David Magallanez, her Sisters, Margarita Caldera, Eliza Campos and Lily Campos.
Consuelo was born on May 25, 1928 in Santa Rita, New Mexico to Rafael and Beatriz Campos. After moving to Sonora, Arizona, she married Apolinar Magallanez in 1946. They welcomed seven children into their home and raised them in a devout Catholic household.
Consuelo lived her life with unwavering love and commitment to her family and her Catholic faith. She will be remembered as a “prayer warrior” and nurturer who supported those she loved regardless of their weaknesses.
A viewing, rosary and funeral Mass is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on January 27, 2020, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 1244 S. Power Road, Mesa, Arizona 85206, with the interment service to follow at Mountain View Cemetery, 7900 E Main St, Mesa, AZ 85207. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Consuelo’s life.
