Darla “Dar” Lashway, 75, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 in Mesa Arizona after a short illness.

Darla was born February 5, 1941 in Glens Falls, New York, she was the daughter of the late Leon and Madeleine Lareau. Darla was a graduate of St. Mary’s Academy, class of 1959. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her infant son Leon Keating; son John Keating and brother Leon Lareau.

Darla was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, stepmother, aunt and friend. She spent most of her life in Glens Falls and worked in the medical field as a medical assistant for both private practice and GE of Ft. Edward, where she eventually retired. In 2006, Darla and her husband Karl relocated to Mesa, Arizona where they enjoyed a full life.

We will forever miss her laugh and caring heart to all she met. “Dar” was known for her ease of conversation, even with total strangers. She had a delightful sense of humor and a contagious smile. Throughout her life she had a sweet and simple way about her that won the trust and hearts of many. She was a nurturing person by nature and enjoyed being surrounded by people. She loved to cook and entertain, Dar was known by all her family and friends as someone who made the holidays special for all of us. Her smile, laughter, and ability to have fun will never be forgotten.

In addition to her husband Karl Lashway of Mesa, Arizona she is survived by her daughter, Renee Solari, her husband Frank and her granddaughter Samantha of Ballston Spa; her brother Roger Lareau and his wife Julie of Penfield NY; Sister-in-law, of her late brother Leon,Marie Lareau of Williston VT; Darla is also survived by several stepchildren, Karleen Bognaski, her husband Vince of Lafargeville NY; Becky McDonald of Hudson Falls NY; Jay Lashway and his wife Dawn of Lake George; Kenya Lashway of Queensbury; Jenny Smith, her husband Garry of Malden Bridge, NY; and Brian Lashway and his wife Gladys of Hudson Falls NY;  step-grandchildren: Matt, Erin, Andrew, Sarah, Alexander, Kade, Nicholas, Dustin, Ricky, Ryan and Allison; three great-grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.

A celebration of her life will be held at a later date to be determined by the family.

We would like to thank the staff at Honor Health Osborn Medical Center Scottsdale and Hospice of the Valley Tempe Arizona for their gentle care and support that helped ease her way into the next world peacefully.
