It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of
Derek Louis Enger on July 12, 2025. Derek was a beloved son and treasured brother who
touched our lives forever in many ways.
With joy, his parents Dean and Michelle Enger, welcomed Derek into this world on February 18,
1984. He was born in Mayville, North Dakota where he was loved and surrounded by his
grandparents, aunts, and uncles. Later he would move with his parents to Michigan,
Wisconsin, Minnesota, and finally Arizona. His sister, Nicole, joined the family in 1987 and he
was always the protective brother of his baby sister, whom he called Coco.
As a youngster he enjoyed playing video games, skateboarding, and playing hockey. He played
hockey first as a rink rat at local parks, later with a youth program, and then for St Michael-
Albertville High School. Throughout his life he enjoyed spending time camping, hiking, and
fishing with his family, creating cherished memories. He was thankful for family vacations,
especially visiting Florida where he enjoyed Kennedy Space Center and seeking thrill rides at
Universal Studios and Disney World. Unforgettable memories were made with his family on a
helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon. Though our family vacations are now changed forever
we will carry him in spirit on our future adventures.
Derek’s passion for creativity and precision led him to pursue both music and manufacturing. He
discovered a love of music at a young age, becoming a skilled guitarist. He went on to attain a
degree in Music Performance from McNally Smith College of Music in St Paul, MN, in addition
to a degree in Music Business Management and Audio Production from Globe Business College
in Minneapolis, MN. The skill of preciseness led to a career in manufacturing. He worked as a
CNC Machinist, producing components for the aerospace industry.
Derek is survived by his parents, Dean and Michelle Rodlund Enger, his sister Nicole Enger
Wirtz (Ryan Wirtz), and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his
grandparents, Dale and Brenda Hegstad Enger, Kathleen Beaulac Rodlund, and Ronald
Rodlund.
We are grateful for the memories we have and will cling to those as we grieve. We will miss
Derek with all our hearts and may he rest in eternal peace.
I’m so sorry for your loss my heart goes out to both you and Dean and the rest of your family during this incredibly difficult time. You’re all in my prayers
Please know how deeply sorry we are on the passing of Derek. One can only imagine the depth of your family’s grief. Loved to read of Derek’s joy in music and his accomplishment of learning the guitar. Music speaks to the soul and he had a beautiful one that is now with the Lord. We are continuing to keep you in prayer and hurt for the pain you are going through. God’s strength and love to you all.

We used to work together building cabinets a couple of years ago. We never really got a chance to get to know each other personally but I wish we did buddy. It’s terrible to see the news and just know that I’m thinking about you.
I regret so much that we lost touch, I’m so sorry for your loss. He was a wonderful person.
