Doris Jean Shelton passed away at her home in Mesa, AZ on July 11, 2020 at the age of 91.

Doris is preceded in death by her parents, Melvin W. Houser and Nellie Ruth Carter Houser, her step-mother, Helen Houser, her brother, Dick Houser, her Sister, Peg Glover-Baldock, Step-Brother Philip Houser and Grand Daughter, Andrea Gail Shelton.

Doris is lovingly remembered by her children, Lon and (wife) Bits Shelton of Deming, NM, Rick and (wife) Debbie Shelton of Ogden, Utah, Jodie and (husband) Daryl Wingfield of Mesa, AZ,, Kim and (wife) Tic Shelton of Holt, Florida, Jeff and (wife) Jodi Shelton of Columbia, SC and Kelli Brower of Olathe, Kansas. Grand Children; Dana (Brian) Meyer of Rochester, MI, Scott (Tracy) Wingfield of Las Vegas, NV, Nicole Catherine Corti of Buford, Georgia, Matthew (Kellie) Corti of Minneapolis, MN, Danielle (Alex) …. Of Seattle, WA, Kyle (Amanda) Brower of Olathe, KS, Troy Shelton of Columbia, SC, Joshua Shelton of Ogden, Utah. Wasana Jimenez of Ft. Walton Beach, FL, Dale Bun Shelton of Destin, Florida, Lily (Devon) Ngo of Navarre, FL. Doris has 17 Great Grand Children and 5 Great-Great Grand Children.

Doris was born in Marshalltown, Iowa on April 1, 1929 to parents Melvin W. Houser and Nellie Ruth Carter Houser. She graduated from Spirit Lake High School in 1947. Doris enjoyed being a homemaker and, also, made a career for many years as a Health Department Head Secretary at Western Kentucky University and Kansas University. Doris was an incredibly talented home decorator and an excellent seamstress. She enjoyed the outdoors and loved to travel! She was a people person and made friends easily. She lived life to the fullest and will be greatly missed.

A private family Graveside Service will be held in Missouri on Saturday, July 18, 2020.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.
