Ernest Wayne Hall (Wayne), 84, of Apache Junction, passed away January 13, 2021. He was born in Greenfield, Maine on May 2, 1936 and raised in Jackman Maine and Washington D.C. Son of Ernest and Angela Hall. Husband to Ruth Hall.

Wayne was a proud, devoted and loyal fan of Cubs baseball. He was the President Emeritus of “The Wild Bunch”. He loved Chicago. He loved Chicago Baseball. He loved anything and everything Cubs. He loved to watch John Wayne movies. He loved to listen to Doo Wop and Roy Hamilton music and most of all, he loved Cubs Spring Training in Mesa, AZ with his friends and family.

Wayne loved his family dearly and would do anything for them. He is survived by two devoted children, Shellie Hall of Chicago, Illinois and Michael Hall of Burnsville, Minnesota. He has 3 grandchildren Devon Duckworth, Cristian Irizarry and Bailey Giltner. He has 2 great grandchildren Luca Irizarry and Isabella Irizarry. He has 4 step children, Toni, Brandi, Danni and Brent. He has 9 step grandchildren, Dustin, Tyler, Cody, Krista, Lane, Isabella, Francesca, Marissa and Wesley. Wayne was a loyal, loving and giving friend to many, including: The Richmond’s, The Feddar’s, The Bussee’s, The White’s, The Allen’s.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 22, 2021 at 10am at 7900 E. Main St. Mesa, AZ 85207, with a reception to follow:  Diamonds Sports Grille 161 N. Centennial Way Mesa, AZ 85201.

Wayne’s family would like to sincerely thank all of the wonderful people who kept Wayne in prayer, held us up, supported us, donated time and energy and just encouraged us through this difficult time.

    I am going to miss you Wayne…I enjoyed our talks about what the Cubs looked like when I was not able to get to Arizona for Spring Training. You will be missed a lot!
    You and my husband Bob were the best Cub fans…sooo loyal!!!

    I am sitting with a heavy heart knowing what your going thru. Praying for the comforter to hold you in his arms … I am so happy spent mothers day there I am here if you need me just right now no way to travel total lockdown here. He was born in maine I see one of my mothers that adopted me was from there great people.

    Ruth, I just heard from Debbie about Wayne’s passing. I was so sorry to hear this. I would have attended his service if I had known.
    He was such a nice man. I believe that I first met him at Fitch Park. After talking he gave me a Wild Bunch pin. I always looked forward to seeing you and Wayne each spring.

    Wayne and Ruth were some of the first fans we met, when we attended our first Cubs Spring Training in 2006 and it was a pleasure knowing Wayne and being part of the “Wild Bunch” for our many years. He will be missed.
