Gwendolyn R. Gardner, age 73, formerly of Memphis, TN, died on Saturday, September 9, 2017 in Mesa, AZ where she had lived for the past eleven years. She was surrounded by her family at the time of her death.

Gwen was born on October 3, 1943 in Memphis, TN, the daughter of James Louis Reeves and Jean Lancaster. For 23 years, Gwen assisted her husband, John Gardner, running their Memphis-based company, Gardner General Construction Company. While in Jackson, TN she was an active member of Grace United Method Church. She was well-known for sharing her cooking with friends and family.  She and her husband enjoyed entertaining, and traveling all across the United States from Nantucket to San Diego.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, John R Gardner.  She is survived by her daughter, Debbie White (Lance) of Mesa, AZ; two sisters, Pam Freeman (Eddie) of McKenzie, TN; and Becki Holt of Memphis, TN; three granddaughters, Shannon Takawaki (Keita) of Mesa, AZ, Kelly O’Hay (Sam Hookham) of Janesville, WI, and Moira O’Hay of Mesa, AZ; two great-granddaughters, Ellie and Morgan Takawaki; and her Pomeranian, Cricket.

SERVICES: A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, September 15, 2017 in the chapel at Mountain View Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Friday prior to the service from 10 a.m. until 11.a.m.Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Kidney Fund, Pulmonary Hypertension Association, or Paws for Purple Hearts.
