Hao Shen, of Laveen Village Arizona, passed away at 8:20pm, November 15th, 2020 at Banner University Medical Center in Phoenix. He had been admitted on November 13th, 2020 into the ICU after being discovered unconscious in the vicinity of his house.
Hao was born April 1, 1964 in Shanghai, China, the only child of the late Ding Wei Shen and Lian Fang Chen. He received his undergraduate degree from the Department of Mathematics of Shanghai Normal University. After graduation and a brief teaching stint, Hao enrolled at Arizona State University and successfully completed his Ph. D in Mathematics. He further continued his post-doctoral work at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. If that was not enough education, Hao returned to ASU and earned his master’s in computer science. After ASU, Hao had been employed by Shamrock Foods Company for the past 12 years, most recently as a Senior Programmer Analyst.
While Hao was foremost studious and devoted to his career, he was also known by his close friends and family to be a music lover, travel aficionado and an avid photographer. His work colleagues, while noting his private nature, said he was always friendly, exuberant in his passions, and joyful and emotional in his happiness, especially when veggie pizza was ordered. His close friends all remember his generosity and loyalty, especially in their times of need.
Hao was very close to his family and especially his mother, who for many years was very ill. He provided constant emotional and financial support to his mother, who only passed away last month. Hao is survived by 5 uncles and aunts and many cousins, who are all shocked by his sudden death and dearly miss him.
