Hazel Mae Larson – 89 went home to be with the Lord on December 30, 2017. She will be remembered for her accepting, giving nature and genuine kindness. Hazel was born in Marquette, MI May 23, 1928 to Harry and Ruth Pellow and was an only child. The family moved to Phoenix in 1957 where she met and married the love of her life, Donald in 1959 who preceded her in death in 2002. Hazel and Donald had three children, James (Daughter-in-Law Kim), Debra (Son-in-Law Scott) and Kristine (Son-in-Law Chuck) and was blessed to have 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren! Hazel had a very blessed career in the public school system spanning more than 40 years. She devoted her working career to the development and teaching of our youth and loved her retired years spending time playing cards with her dear friends at her retirement community. Hazel was a member and past President of the United Methodist Women and a 69 year member and past Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star. A memorial will be held on Saturday, January 20th at 10:00 am at the First United Methodist Church of Mesa, 15 E. First Avenue, Mesa, AZ 85210. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Seasons Hospice, 2020 N. Central Ave., Ste 170, Phoenix, AZ 85002.
We will miss her beautiful smile and warm hugs.
So sorry to hear of Mrs. Larson’s passing. She was a true lady: gentle, sweet, and kind. Never a harsh word and always a smile. The world is a less sunny place with her gone, but Heaven has gained a true angel.
I have wonderful memories of Hazel and am glad I knew her.
