Jane Elizabeth Cosway passed away on Dec. 13, 2020, after a brief illness. She was 97 years old, having been born in Plymouth, England, on Sept. 3, 1923.
The Second World War was declared on Elizabeth’s 16th birthday, so her career as a hairdresser came to an end when she volunteered to join the Women’s Air Force (the WAFs). She served as a ground transportation specialist, moving personnel and materials.
She met the love of her life, Albert Roy Cosway, after the war, and they were married in 1949, eventually emigrating to Canada in 1957, and to Arizona in 1969. Arizona remained their home for the remainder of their lives. They were married for 59 years before Roy’s passing in 2008.
Elizabeth is survived by two children Elizabeth Anne Wright, born in 1950 and living in Ontario, Canada; and Richard Graham Cosway, born in 1958, who resides in Arizona with his wife Debby.
Both Elizabeth and Roy took great pleasure in travelling together and making frequent visits with their two children, and with their grandson, Matthew Justin Wright.
Elizabeth was an accomplished knitter, and also enjoyed sewing, playing the piano, learning foreign languages and keeping up with current events. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Due to travel concerns with Covid-19, a memorial service will be held later this year at the home of her son
