Entered into life in Corsicana, Texas
Entered into rest in Mesa, Arizona
Janice Marie Aspbury passed away peacefully on September 24th, 2023, with family by her side. She was loving, caring, loyal, intelligent, witty, faithful, and had a beautiful soul. Her commitment to her family was unforgettable.
Janice grew up in Texas, went to school in Ranger, Texas, and then received her Bachelor’s Degree in Library Science from Texas Woman’s University. She met her husband-to-be, Roy, when visiting her brother and his wife in Brockport, New York. She and Roy married on April 10, 1973, and they celebrated 50 years of marriage this past April. She became not just a wife, but a mother and best friend to Roy’s daughter, Shelley. They lived in Brockport, New York until 1994, and then moved to Mesa, Arizona to relocate for work. Janice worked as a Human Resources Director for LeGris, Inc. for over 30 years before retiring. She was a loving, giving grandparent and so much more to her grandchildren, Adam and Emily, since they were born. She loved to read, had a witty sense of humor, was opinionated, and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all.
She is survived by her husband, Roy J. Aspbury; her daughter, Shelley L. Aspbury; her grandchildren, Adam C. Stebbins and Emily K. Stebbins; her brother, Curtis Stephens and wife Annabeth Stephens, and her two nephews, Derek Clayton Stephens and Ryan Stephens.
She is preceded in death by her parents Lonnie and Mamie Irene Stephens, her brother James Stephens, and her nephew Darren Blair Stephens.
Her love will forever be in our hearts and wherever we go. She lives on in us in so many ways. She holds a space in our hearts that no one else can ever fill.
Services will be held on Friday, October 13th , 2023, at 11:00 am at Mountain View Funeral Home and Cemetery at 7900 E. Main Street, Mesa, AZ 85207.
I met Janice through my dear friend Shelley Aspbury, Janice’s loving and devoted daughter. I always found Janice to be a warm, gentle and soft-spoken woman who clearly adored her husband, Roy, Shelley, and her twin grandchildren. Emily and Adam. Janice faced some significant health challenges in the last few years of her life, but met those challenges head on with a great deal of courage and a strong faith. She will be sorely missed by her loving family and everyone who was privileged to have known her.
So very sorry for your loss. I have wonderful memories of Janice, my cousin at our Stephens family reunions in Gordan, Glenrose, Ranger, Stephenville & Fort Worth. She was always such a fun and friendly person. Prayers for the family for God’s peace & comfort.
