JoAnn Waldie Thompson, 89, of Apache Junction, AZ, passed away on March 31, 2018.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 3, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at Mountain View Memorial Gardens.

JoAnn was born in Safford, AZ, on September 21, 1928.

JoAnn was married to John Edward Thompson on September 3, 1948; they were married for 69 wonderful years.

In addition to being a loving wife, mother and homemaker, JoAnn was an avid needle pointer, winning many awards for her beautiful pieces.

JoAnn is survived by her 3 children, Kathy Grindstaff (Bill), Tim Thompson, and Shay Hagerman (Chuck); 6 grandchildren, Nikki Flaharity (Kelly), Ryan Hammer (Brandi), John Thompson, Leann Hammer, Liz Thompson, and Caleb Goosic (Ashley); 7 great grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Mary Thompson, and other family and friends.

JoAnn was preceded in death by her husband, John, her daughter, Marilyn Thompson (Cindy), parents, Walter and Madge Waldie, and sister, Janet Eccles.

JoAnn and John met in grade school when they were 7 years old, and they are now together again where their love story will continue . . . .

    I can just picture them as 7-8 yr olds on the playground planning their future marriage and life
    together and the plan worked out so well .
