Joseph Raymond Comparin, 71 of Mesa, AZ passed away on February 4, 2015 in Phoenix, AZ. Mr. Comparin managed, then owned the Dairy Queen at 33 South Country Club Dr. for 35 years. Prior to that he was a police officer in Scottsdale, AZ. Joe graduated from Mesa High School in 1961. He was awarded the Zedo Ishikawa memorial award as the most outstanding athlete and scholar. He graduated from Northern Arizona State University in 1965 with a B.S. degree in Police Science and Administration. He was born in Milwaukee, WI. Survivors include his wife Lana, son Jeffrey H. Comparin (Rae) of VA, daughter Julie S. Guzman, Mesa, his sister Patricia White (Larry), cousin Sandy Clapman (Buddy), 6 grandchildren Andrew and Allison Comparin, Garrett, Isaac, Gabriel, and Madeline Guzman, nephews Scott Trimble and Larry White and nieces Jennifer Nahas, Diane Trimble, Janet Weaver, Wendy Babinski, Julia Hammell, Kim Newton, and cousins Amy and Cassie Clapham. Preceding him in death were his parents Ione and Joseph Comparin, and his nephew Brad White. He retired in 2002 and enjoyed golf, camping, fishing, visiting family in VA, and many fun trips to the beach in Oceanside with his wife, son, daughter, and grandchildren. He was active at Paloma Community Church where he served as an elder and was willing to take on any task. He was a life member of the Mesa Hohokams, where he volunteered in the control room for the Chicago Cubs during spring training. He then volunteered as an usher at the new Cubs stadium. We invite you to join us as we celebrate his life at a memorial service, Friday, February 13, 10:00 a.m. at Broadway Christian Church, 7335 E. Broadway Rd. Mesa AZ 85208.
