Joyce Arleen Elwert of Mesa, AZ, born February 10, 1954 in Detroit, MI to Marvin and Dolores Misiak. Joyce passed shockingly from this earth on 10/20/2024 due to sudden illness caused by a fall.
She is survived by the love of her life & beloved husband of 50+ years, Keith Elwert, who mourns his better half so, so much.
She is also survived by her loving siblings: Elaine Stewart (Tom), Joann Kotula, Karen Meyers (Mike), James Misiak (Stephanie).
Plus many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews whom she cared for very much. Also many friends both here in AZ and in her native Michigan.
She spent most of her working life in insurance, with several “no brainer” jobs in retail during post-retirement.
Our dear Joyce moved to AZ in 2016 to enjoy sun & fun, golf, walks in the morning, pool weather and no snow. She was a frequent visitor to local casinos & Vegas-also about the luckiest slot player that most of us know. She was a woman of perhaps small stature, but had the heart and will of a giant. We will miss her greatly.
Donations to her favorite charities: St. Jude’s’ Children’s and Boy’s Town

I have known Joyce for at least 50 years. We meet around 1972 as we both worked at the same insurance company. The company sponsored our bowling league for many years plus we also bowled together on summer leagues as well. Joyce was the most carefree person I have ever known. She was such a sweet person and she absolutely loved her husband, Keith! I missed her greatly when they moved to AZ but now I miss her even more. She left us way too soon; RIP Joycee (this was her bowling name) I guess God just needed another angel !!
I remember Joyce from school days in northwest Detroit where we grew up, as well as the Southfield Woods Dads Club softball league. A few years later, my brother married Keith’s sister, Cathy. Joyce was always very friendly and fun – a pleasure to see at family gatherings. There’s no doubt that she will be dearly missed by Keith and everyone else in her earthly orbit.
I was thinking of Joyce, and a memory popped into my head. It was Joyce and Keith’s wedding , and there is a picture before the ceremony at our house with Joyce and her attendant’s. The look on Joyce’s face was pure happiness. Keith, you and Joyce were fortunate to spend over 50 loving years together, what a Blessing. Rest in peace my sister.
I remember meeting Joyce at Donald’s house one summer. I could tell that she was a fine person. I am very sorry for your loss.
