Kevin James Van Houten, born on March 4, 1961, in Lincoln, Nebraska passed away peacefully on December 3, 2024, at the age of 63. A beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, Kevin’s life was marked by adventure, dedication, and a love for storytelling.
Kevin graduated from North Central High School in Indianapolis, Indiana, where he first developed his passion for exploration and camaraderie. Following high school, he proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, where he honed his skills in scuba diving and driving amphibious vehicles, experiences that fueled his lifelong love for the sea and adventure.
After his honorable service, Kevin pursued a career in truck driving, a profession that allowed him to traverse the country and meet people from all walks of life. His stories from the road were legendary among his family and friends, often shared over a round of golf, another of his cherished pastimes.
Kevin’s warmth and humor were constants in his life, endearing him to all who knew him. He was a devoted family man, survived by his loving parents, his brother Scott, and three nephews, who were the light of his life. He also leaves behind two aunts and a wide circle of extended family and friends who will miss his vibrant spirit and generous heart.
Kevin’s legacy is one of adventure, laughter, and love. His stories and the memories he created will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him. A private family service will be held to honor his life and contributions. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of choice in Kevin’s memory.
