LaVera Lillian Bennett (Nee Schweiger)

July 15, 1945 – November 25, 2024

LaVera Lillian Bennett (Nee Schweiger) went to be with the Lord at the age of 79, on Monday, November 25, 2024 in Mesa, Arizona.

Born on July 15, 1945 to Helen and Clifford Schweiger, of Mendota, IL, LaVera graduated college and nursing school from Aurora College and married Paul Dobbins. They had two children, Daniel J. (Stacey) Dobbins and Mary N. (Rodney) Miller. She later married Gary Bennett and they had one daughter, Susan L. (Morrie) Bedwell. LaVera quickly became “Mom” to step-children Teresa, Tim, Joe, Jeanine and Connie Bennett.

LaVera was born to help others. As a nurse at Copley Memorial Hospital in Illinois for 20+ years, she served those in need in the ICU and other post-op units. She moved to Arizona in 1995, where she worked for Banner Health and other hospital and nursing care facilities. She retired in 2017 and volunteered for Hope House and other church and community-based services.

She was a member of Broadway Christian Church, where she was actively involved in Bible study and faith-based groups. LaVera was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Gary, as well as Teresa and Joe Bennett. She leaves behind in love her children, grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at Mountain View Funeral Home & Cemetery in Mesa, Arizona on Friday, December 13, 2024.
