Lieselotte “Lilo” Epley, 91, of Mesa, AZ passed away on September 28, 2021 from COVID-19. Although she had been vaccinated, she was exposed to the Delta Variant while immunocompromised resulting in her death.
One of two children, Lilo was born in Alzey, Germany. In 1953, she came to the United States after marrying SSGT E.R. Epley. She spent the next 26 years as a military wife moving around the country. Eventually, Lilo and her husband settled in Conyngham, PA, where she worked as the receptionist for Dr. Maryann Ward. She loved fashion, WWE, and was an avid bowler who belonged to The Valley Lanes. In 2010, she moved to Mesa, AZ to live with her daughter until she passed.
Lilo is survived by daughter Sharon Epley, grandchildren Natalie and Marc Hussey, beloved nephew Rainer Hofius and family, and many dear friends. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Conyngham in April 2022. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to Lilo’s favorite charity St. Jude Children’s hospital.
Please honor this beloved mother, grandmother, and friend by getting the COVID-19 vaccination and booster to prevent the spread to vulnerable people. No one should have to die alone.
