Lillian LaGene Merrill (Hammarstedt), 97, of Glendale, AZ passed away Thursday January 2, 2020 in Glendale, AZ.  LaGene was born in Texas County, OK on April 5, 1922.

LaGene is preceded in death by her parents Zybie Orin Leffler and Lillian Genette Leffler (Coffey).  As well as her husband Maynard “Whitey” E. Hammarstedt of 39 years and Charles E. Merrill her husband of four years.

LaGene is survived by her step-son, Terry M. Hammarstedt and step-daughter, Cheryl L. Bovee (Hammarstedt), as well as her granddaughters, Cynthia A. Espinosa (Hammarstedt) and Tracy J. Hotz (Hammarstedt).  She is also survived by her five great-grandchildren, Samantha, Alexandra, Michael, Corbin and Brenna.

There will be a graveside service for her on Wednesday January 8, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Mountain View Funeral Home 7900 E. Main St. Mesa, AZ 85207

    Words cannot describe what I am feeling. I give my condolences to the entire family. It was a privilege being Lillian Caregiver, I will never forget her kindness. May God give him eternal rest and the family the strength to bear the great pain.
