Lorraine Dakota Proffitt Goodrich was born on September 5, 1928 to Robert and Nettie McGill Proffitt and grew up in Kansas City, Kansas.
She met her future husband, Russell Goodrich, during WWII when he visited Kansas City on a weekend pass from the Army. Soon Russell was shipped out to Hawaii, but they continued to write. When he was discharged, he returned to Kansas City and proposed marriage. They were married on November 16, 1946 in Harrison, MI and moved to the Goodrich family farmstead to live and work.
After the birth of their four children, Gaylen, Gary, Glenda, and Garth, they moved to Arizona where they lived and worked until retirement. Traveling the 50 states and Canada after retirement was a dream come true.
Lorraine passed away on September 22, 2020 after a long battle with a debilitating disease. She is survived by her husband Russell Goodrich of 73 years, her daughter Gaylen (Goodrich) Towt of Mesa, AZ and her son Garth Goodrich of Dewey, AZ, six grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter Glenda (Goodrich) Sexton, her son Gary Goodrich, her sisters Wilma McGregor and Harriette Fitzell, and her brothers Marion Proffitt and Allen Proffitt.
