Marie Brown was born on Dec. 24, 1925 to the late Leroy and Mattie Pearson, in Middletown, OH. At age 5, Marie and her mother, Mattie, moved from Middletown, OH to Itta Bena, MS to live with her grandmother, Patsy Robinson.

Marie accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at the age of 14 and was baptized at Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Itta Bena, MS. At age 15, Marie moved to Chicago with her father where she completed her high school education and began long term employment with a large mail order company.

While in Chicago, Marie met and married her second husband, Charles Brown, who became father to their son Danny L Roseman and later to daughter, Sandra R Brown and son Charles M Brown.

Marie lived, raised her family and worked in Chicago, IL for over 50 years. She retired from her long-term employer after 25 years of prompt and exemplary employment. Marie‘s lifelong aspiration was to see the beautiful beaches of the world. This fueled her inspiration to organize travel groups that allowed her to see some of the places she desired to travel.

Although she was not able to travel to all of the beautiful beaches she dreamed of, her strong compassion and boundless love for others touched more hearts than the miles she dreamed of traveling. Her life was devoted to the loving and caring of her family and those around her. The essence of her being was kindness. Her heart’s desire was “to be kind and treat everyone right.” This tenant was evident in the lives of so many beyond her biological family who considered her their mother or grandmother. Her generous heart, warm bright smiles and big hugs will be greatly missed.

Marie peacefully made her transition home on June 18, 2018 at the blessed age of 92. She was preceded in death by her former husband Charles Brown; father Leroy Pearson and mother Mattie Pearson, and her brother James Simon.

Marie leaves to forever cherish her memories her sons: Danny L Roseman (Hinda), Charles M Brown (Denise); Daughter Sandra R Swan (Ronnie): and son-like, Rodney Houston (Geneva); eleven grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; a brother Albert Bennett and three sisters, Darlene, Vita and Malia Bennett; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
