    Lisa and boys, I am so sorry to see about Marks passing. I have been thinking of him the last few days and telling myself I need to contact him again, I guess there was a reason. It was so good to talk to him when we were in the area last month and I was so sad he was not feeling well enough to get together. You are in my thoughts and prayers. {{{Hugs}}}

    Mark was one of my graduate students that I was a major adviser for. He was number 3, among more than 50, to get their degree with me as major adviser, to be exact. I learned about this sad news today and I am truly saddened and wanted to share few memories with his family. Mark was one of my most favorite graduate students I have ever advised. He was always happy, level head and nothing but positive when encountered challenges. I continued to have professional relation with Mark, after his graduation. We even designed a bridge in Wyoming together. I cannot say enough about his positive and friendly attitude. He always had a smile in his face and so collected during challenging times. Mark was truly one of a kind and I am so grateful that had a privilege of knowing Mark and being his major adviser. I am gone miss one of my most favorite graduate students ever. I wish the family all the strength during these difficult times.

    Dear Lisa, Aaron, & Chad,
    My heart broke to hear the news of Mark’s passing. It is hard to be far away and not be able to give you all a hug. But we know that Mark is free of suffering now, and you have our wholehearted sympathy and prayers. We remember many great times in Lincoln, especially Chad and Micah’s elementary school days.
    Love Always, Marti & Ken

    I learned of Mark’s passing yesterday and am heartbroken for his family. I worked with Mark on projects for the Nebraska Department of Roads Transportation Enhancement Program from 1995 until about 2004 when he relocated to Arizona. Mark was working for Olsson Associates at the time and we traveled throughout Nebraska together for weeks at a time looking at potential projects. I have so many great memories of our travels and meetings. Mark was a really special person and he made our work so enjoyable. We reached the point where we could finish each others sentences and laugh at our own shortcomings without fear of judgement. I have been recalling some of the funny situations from all our trips and, despite the tears and sadness right now, I managed a small smile because of Mark’s great personality and sense of humor. I pray that Mark’s family may find a little comfort in knowing that Mark made so many other lives better.
