Merrill Lloyd Tew, born April 7, 1936, also called Lloyd by many who loved him, passed away Friday November 29th, 2024, surrounded by love and family, leaving behind a legacy of joy, generosity and devotion. A man of humble beginnings, Merrill’s incredible intellect and extraordinary musical talent were matched only by his kind and giving spirit.
In August 1956, Merrill was sealed to the love of his life, Alta Ardell Roberts, in the Idaho Falls Temple. Their union was a testament to their unwavering faith and love, and together they built a beautiful family. Merrill and Alta were blessed with four children: Kari (Curt) Jensen of Bountiful, UT; Nikki Lynn (Garry) Goodman of Phoenix, AZ; Stefni Diann (Jim) Smith of Goldsboro, NC; and Jeff R. (Isabel) Tew of Chubbuck, ID.
Merrill cherished his role to 14 grandchildren and 14-3/4 great grandchildren, each of whom brought immense joy to his life.
Through hard work, a determined spirit, and an unwavering commitment to his goals, Merrill achieved remarkable success in his endeavors, always maintaining a deep humility and gratitude for life blessings. His wisdom, humor, and music brought light to everyone around him, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew him.
Merrill’s life was a testament to faith, love and service. He was a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings to which he brought his expertise in education, music and organization. His family will remember him as a pillar of strength and kindness, and his legacy of love will continue to inspire generations to come.
Merrill was preceded in death by two of his brothers, Farrell and Don. He is survived by all of his children and his wife, Alta, his brothers Nolan and Wayne, and his sisters, Genielle, Ramona and Beverly.
A graveside service will be held December 7, 2024 at Mountain view Funeral Home and Cemetery – Location: 7900 E Main Street Mesa, AZ 85207
