Mindy Lee Smith Lamb – ‘Mimi’
Mindy Lee Lamb, 49, of Mesa, Arizona passed away on Thursday, December 21, 2023.
Mindy was born July 19, 1974 in San Jose, California and was the daughter to John Robert Smith and Cheryl Ann Lee. Mindy was the fourth of eight children. Her siblings include Robert (Sunghee) Smith, Tim (Tracy) Smith, Michelle (Tyler) Hillyard, Kimberly (Kevin) McPeek, Heidi (Bruce) Cosseboom, April (Travis) Duggins, and Heather (Andrew) Winters. She was raised in Sunnyvale, California. She graduated from Homestead High School in 1992, and later received certification through beautician school. Mindy moved to Arizona in 1994. While attending college at Eastern Arizona College in Thatcher, Arizona, Mindy met Tommie Theo Lamb. They were married/sealed in the Mesa, Arizona Temple May 13, 1995. They moved to Mesa in 1996. Mindy worked at Bashas’ in the bakery and worked for a collection agency. Mindy became a mother June 23, 1999 when Clayton Porter (Chesley) Lamb was born. She and Tommie would have two other children, Makenna Ann Lamb, February 15, 2001 and Kelby Rose Lamb, June 4, 2004. Mindy would also become a grandmother on May 25, 2023 when Henry Clay Lamb was born. Mindy was a stay at home mom from 1999 to 2009. Mindy eventually began working for the Mesa Public Schools. She worked in the cafeteria, as a teachers aid, hearing screening specialist and finally as a Medicaid compliance specialist.
Mindy loved serving in the community and in her church. She held several positions within the church that allowed her to serve largely with young women and adult women of the congregation. She was a champion and protector of the marginalized, misunderstood and those considered ‘special’. She was incredibly kind, compassionate and giving. She was fun to be around and was the life of the party. She loved to socialize and had a knack for remembering people and their names. She had many hobbies and interests over the years. She loved to sew, cross stitch, scrapbook, home canning and storage and working on puzzles. She loved to sit by and poke fires. She loved reading, playing games and listening to music.
Mindy will be missed by all she came in contact with. Survivors include her Husband, Tommie, 3 Children, Clayton (Chesley), Makenna, Kelby, 1 grandchild, Henry, Parents, John and Cheryl, 1 in-law parent, Jo Ann, 7 siblings, Robert (Sunghee), Tim (Tracy), Michelle (Tyler), Kimberly (Kevin), Heidi (Bruce), April (Travis), and Heather (Andrew), 2 in-law siblings, Amy (Sam), Gary (Holly), 31 nieces and nephews and countless friends and acquaintances.
Services for Mindy will be held on December 30, 2023 at the Red Mountain Institute Building for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints located at 7126 East McKellips Road, Mesa, AZ 85207. Viewing for relatives will begin at 9am and extend to the general public at 10am. Funeral services will begin at 11am.

    Its been a while since speaking with Mindi, but I do remember she was such a great person in the Baywood ward. She helped me feel comfortable, included, and always was up for a good time. ❤️ Prayers to all her family.

    Mindy was my best friend. She only wanted to help everyone and make sure they were doing well. . She was fun to be with and had a great sense of humor. She could always make me laugh. A kinder, more wonderful person on this earth I’ve never known. Mindy, we miss you immensely. See you on the other side.
