Phyllis Irene Pike left this world August 16, 2024, at age 98. She was born to Earl and Anna Mae Kimball on July 17, 1926, in the town of Walker, Minnesota. After graduating from Backus High School in 1944, she moved with her family to Park Rapids where she worked as a bookkeeper at the Federated Department Store. Phyllis married Bruce Pike on May 23, 1948, in Park Rapids, MN. In 1951, they moved to Chandler, AZ, which back in those days was a small town quickly growing into a city. As young professionals, Phyllis and Bruce both belonged to the Jaycees civic organization serving in leadership roles. After relocating briefly to Davenport, Iowa, they moved back to Arizona and settled in Tempe, where they lived for 28 years. Throughout her lifetime, Phyllis was an administrator and office manager for the family businesses until retirement in 1990. Phyllis was a great cook who had a knack for frying up the fish that Bruce caught at Roosevelt Lake. Her family will affectionately remember the way she scolded “tut-tut” if you were misbehaving. In her later years, Phyllis loved sweets, especially ice cream and chocolate. Phyllis and Bruce had 3 children: Sherry, Teresa and Rodney along with 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and son. Her final resting place is Mountain View Funeral Home & Cemetery in Mesa, Arizona.
