Ruth Arlene Belsan, 81, passed away peacefully at East Valley Hospice on August 27, 2022. She was born on November 15, 1940, in Elgin, IL to George and Florence Brahmstadt. She was the oldest of 9 and attended school in Genoa, IL and graduated from Genoa-Kingston High School in 1958. She went on to study nursing at St. Anthony’s in Rockford, IL graduating in 1961.
Ruth met the love of her life and married Thomas David Belsan on June 22, 1963, in Genoa, IL at Saint Catherine Church. they were married for 58 years. To this union, 6 children were born. They raised their family in Berwyn, IL where they both worked at McNeal Hospital until 1979 when they moved their family to Phoenix, AZ. Ruth worked at Doctor’s Hospital (now Phoenix Children’s Hospital) until she retired in 2000.
Coming from a large close-knit family she always had love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed attending dance recitals, plays and other activities that filled the lives of her grandchildren. In between family activities she filled in the time with love of travel, art, and ceramics.
Ruth is survived by her husband Thomas David Belsan, and six children: Peter Belsan, Patrick Belsan, Paul Belsan, Heather Johnson, Phillip Belsan, Leslie Seeley, and 15 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 5 siblings: Shirley, Clifford, Valerie, Robert, and Mary.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Wayne, Louis, and George Jr., and her granddaughter Cassidy Marie.
A viewing and celebration of life will be held on Friday, September 2, 2022, at Mountain View Funeral Home and Cemetery in Mesa, AZ from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m..
